Born and raised in Sacramento, Julia Marin came from a family deeply rooted in the local music and dance communities, and from them took to an early appreciation of top-40 Spanish recording artists and to an early desire, at 17, to photograph them.

For nearly 30 years afterwards, her love of telling stories in the mediums of photography and video have found subjects in politicians such as President Bill Clinton, U.S. Sen. John McCain, Governors Jerry Brown and Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, just to name a few.

Her videos for the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association have won the plaudits of legislators concerned with public safety. And as an officially accredited photojournalist for the National Football League, her pictures of the agony and the ecstasy of top NFL stars have been reprinted by Vida de Oro Arts and Entertainment in Sacramento.
