Whom you entrust to capture that moment of your life is one of the most important decisions you will ever make.
The responsibility someone has invested in her to create an image or video that will last a lifetime is the motivating passion behind all of Julia Marin Photography’s work.
Whether it’s in the poignant loss her work has captured in the faces of family members at the California Peace Officers’ Memorial or in the happy dreams of a young couple on their wedding day, Julia Marin’s work succeeds at arresting the attention of the viewer and holding it there for optimal effect.
Whether it’s in celebratory occasions for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or for Women’s Empowerment or in the everyday difficulties and anguish faced by the 7,000 members of the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association, the photographic and video work of Julia Marin always strikes the right evocation.
Born and raised in Sacramento, Julia Marin came from a family deeply rooted in the local music and dance communities, and from them took to an early appreciation of top-40 Spanish recording artists and to an early desire, at 17, to photograph them.
For nearly 30 years afterwards, her love of telling stories in the mediums of photography and video have found subjects in politicians such as President Bill Clinton, U.S. Sen. John McCain, Governors Jerry Brown and Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, just to name a few.
Her videos for the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association have won the plaudits of legislators concerned with public safety. And as an officially accredited photojournalist for the National Football League, her pictures of the agony and the ecstasy of top NFL stars have been reprinted by Vida de Oro Arts and Entertainment in Sacramento.
But Julia Marin’s craft is not to be found solely in celebrity. She equally enjoys and brings an equal commitment to her work on:
• children’s sporting events
• community gatherings
• family events
• family portraits
For Julia Marin, every occasion offers the delight of capturing a perfect moment, a perfect expression on film. That it should last forever is the art Julia Marin succeeds in creating.
